Edge of the Pier

Today we finally got to swim. We went to Rec 2, one of the beaches around here, and it was fun — swimming with Jordan, using the floatie to get out to the little island in the middle, dive-jumping into the water from there and swimming back. As we were drying off on the beach I couldn't help but look around at all the youthful bodies, and one guy had the perfectly sculpted everything, abs and pecs and all of it, and I definitely stared a little longer than I needed to.

Later in the evening we went to Rec 1 for the fireworks. We had to wait around forty minutes, but I'm glad we did, because we ended up with the best spot — the smaller floating pier, right at the very end of it, out on the edge. The whole time I was cuddled up near Jordan and no one could see us, because we were past where anyone else was standing. The fireworks were far off, maybe two miles south, which actually made our spot perfect: totally unobstructed view, nothing between us and them. It was great. Happy 250th birthday, America.
