One Direction at a Time
Today we drove from the lake house back to Reno, and it was pretty uneventful, honestly. We cleaned up the place and hit the road, and the whole thing took almost three hours because there's a stretch in the middle where they're repairing the road and only letting traffic through one direction at a time, so you just sit and wait your turn.
We got back just in time for the dinner party Jordan's sister was hosting, so we tagged along with his parents and scored some free food out of it. The ribs were delicious. Katie was telling us about her trip to Hawaii, and I'm glad she got to go and see some interesting stuff — she visited some nice museums, including the Hawaiian Kingdom's palace. Apparently the queen was locked in a room there for eight months, and it was in that room that she learned her kingdom had been made a colony of the US, right out from under her. It's a genuinely wild piece of history to sit with over dinner.
